“How do you do that?” Celia said.
“Do what?”
“Act so cavalier about things that are sacred to other people?”
“Because other people have got nothing to do with me.”
It is a quote from the book, and all that I could say is that, she is really a genius and has lived marvelous life.
Almost all along her life, she has used the right people at the right time to get what she wanted. She has had her ups and downs, but because of luck, because of the people she could use, and because she dared to use them, she only climbed higher.
It may seem like a lot of coincidences, a lot of smart decisions made, and a lot of perfect timing from the perspective of the book looking back at what happened in her life, but think about how amazing it would have been if someone had actually gone through all those crises, not knowing what would happen next, and not only survived, but gotten great joy out of it and ruled it.
I got impressed, but actually, I am not sure if I am inspired. Her life is filled with choices, but none of them are that relevant to me, or anybody, I guess. After reading almost 3/4 of the book, I was impressed with Evelyn\’s splendid life, I was impressed with her charm and attractiveness, and that\’s all I got out of it. It serves as a perfect kill time, but I don\’t think I will remember the story for too long.
Think if Evelyn really exists, I will fall for her too.
