I went to AWS Dev Day today, and I get to know a lot of interesting people.
It was the third time today that I have recently heard people talk about the importance of networking. It\’s like 90% of the jobs you get are due to networking rather than skills. It really got me into some thinking.
And, I have really seen what people can do. I asked people for their opinion on one of my projects, and I got great answers! It actually solved a critical problem that our team is facing, and I just met that guy today! It\’s just amazing.
There are a lot of people who have great wisdom in their industry and in their lives as well. It\’s impossible for one to be an expert in all industries, so connecting with people from different backgrounds and different industries is like gathering their wisdom together so that one day, they might be helpful.
By talking to them, you\’ll gain a little insight into areas you\’re not familiar with, and the more you know, the broader your future will be. It\’s also true that, in the conversation, you learn not only about their professional skills, but also about their life experiences and life lessons! I really got to see things from a new perspective and also from a new depth. Despite the above, it was interesting to learn more about other people, their experiences, their life stories, their careers, anything. There will be some aspects that interest you and that you can learn from.
Guess I will need to be more brave in reach out to people. It\’s actually not that difficult, and it is so rewarding.
