They are trying to better the passenger experience in the HongKong Airport. I really learned a lot from this event. I will try to write down their ideas from my own perspective and thoughts I get from them.
Problem | Solution | My thoughts |
Passengere get board at the gate when waiting for the flight | They want to probide some virtual exbitions collaborating with the local artists. They would suggest the exibitions according to the waiting time of the passenger. The exibition normally lasts 10-20 minutes. Packages include one free exibition for downloading their app, 20 for each, and 120 for all the exhibitions. | Well, it could be fun, just, a little bit hard for me to picture how they are going to make it happen. |
Passengers need to use different apps to handle things related to their flight. The flight itself, the food, the hotel(?) and many thing else. | They will create an app that have all the information a passenger need. | I have some similar idea for one of my programs as well. They set up a good model for me to take as a reference. |
Passengers might want to exercise while waiting at the gate. | They will install interactive mirror for passengers to try out(?) | I like the comment made by one of the judge. That instead of standard stretches, they could include some Kunfu movement, and custome the outfit to make it some Kunfu suit. The passengers could save it and share on social media. |
Passengers get lost in the airport. The existing solution are costy or complex. | They want to offer this service for the passengers in need. They are going to give them a device which could track current locations to them, and the user could ask for the way to somewhere through the mic. The divice contains customers\’ informations so that the airport could get the location of a customer if they fail to go to the gate on time. The passenger could also ask for manuall help through pressing the buttons only when needed, thus the human resources could be reduced. | I really love their idea. Really love it. They have taken so many aspects into consideration, which really impressed my. They team dynamic is also great. |
Passengers couldn\’t get the flight inforations they need easily. | They provide easy access and personalized informations for each passenger. With their flight token, the passengers could get a unique QR code, after they scan, the link could take them to a website where all their needed basic informations are clearly displayed. And may direct passengers to existing platforms that may contain more information but are not as user-friendly for first-time users and require a lot of information to be filled out to register an account. | I like their concept. The judge says that it is impossible for a web service to use bluetooth or anything to track the user\’s location. An app is a must for that. But then, it woule be violating their idea of creating the passengers an easy access to the information. |
Airpoints could be more useful to the airport, the airline and the customers than it is now. | They want to creat an app that could log all the airpoints from different airlines. Passengers could use the airpoint they get to buy things in the airport. | TBH, this is the first time I heard about airpoints. The main problem for them is that they might have to bring the airport, the airline, the stakeholders, and any parties that might be involved in onboard to make their idea happen. |
Apart from their specific ideas, it is their way of thinking that I should learn the most. How they idntify the problems, how they came up with their solutions, and how they interpret them. I like the comments and the questions from the judge as well. They are seeing things from their own professional angles, which really helps the team and me to get a bigger and clearer picture.
I also spoke with some of the group after their presentation. And it felt so great. They are energetic, they are considering things from various angles, and they were able to explain the answer to my questions in such a clear way.
I really enjoyed it and I really learned a lot. Will always treasure it.
